Sagrantino is otherwordly and powerful wine, which is its distinctive charm. What's surprising is that the powerful structure of Sagrantino of Tenuta Castelbuono is counterbalanced by generous suppleness and harmony. In order to achieve this balance, a strategic decision was made to select large barrels over smaller barriques.
The Tenuta Castelbuono estate, in the heart of Umbria, was born from a deep and abading love that the Lunelli family bears for this land and the Sagrantino wine. Now in their third generation at the helm of Ferrari Winery, the Lunelli family anvisioned a dream for Umbria, one that owing to their frienship with Arnaldo Pomodoro has been realized. A dream to create a sculpture in which one can live, work and create magnificent wines.
“What won us over was the undeniable magnetism of a land s old and numinous as Umbria and a wine as powerful and with such a long cellar life as Sagrantino”,
“I drew my inspiration from the tortoise, symbol of stability and longevity, whose carapace represents the union between earth and sky”
